Unique Guided Birding Tours
Birding by Season’s tours are relaxed and personal. Your host, Janice, brings First Nations values and a passion for birds and protecting natures’ gifts to every tour. Come and explore beautiful beaches and sculpted sand dunes. Boreal forests. Salt marshes. A unique estuary. Nature reserves. One of the oldest tree fossil beds in the world. A rare limestone barrens. It’s all waiting for you in Southwestern Newfoundland!

- Our tours are intimate, with a maximum group size of up to 8 people (plus your guide)
- We focus on the protection of birds and their habitats
- Local Newfoundland culture is automatically a part of your tour experience
- Indigenous tours are led by an experienced guide
- Interpretative tours are offered year round
- Updated COVID-19 guidelines and protocols
All tours begin and end at Stephenville, except for our Codroy Valley tour. This outing begins and ends at Codroy Valley, just 30 minutes to Route 406 from the Ferry Terminal in Port au Basques.
Birding by Season is located at Stephenville – 2 hours from the Port aux Basques Ferry Terminal, 1.5 hours from Deer Lake Airport or fly into Stephenville Airport.
For 2021, all guided tours at Birding by Season are self-drive tours (your guide will be in a separate car). You can customize a guided tour or if you are looking for a bit more freedom, we can prepare a flexible, Do-it-Yourself tour for you or your group. If you are planning to stay in the area and would like to combine tours, we would be happy to assist you with overnight accommodations and your vehicle rental, if you require one.
